philanthropy

I think my first spoken words were "Mom, can we keep it?"  Since childhood, I have always felt a deep connection and compassion for animals. In my formative years, I brought home every stray I found, spent every moment of my spare time exploring the woods, and had no fear of any animal in my path.  At 6 years old, on my walk home from elementary school, I encountered a neighbor's large dog with a hawk in his mouth.  The hawk was screaming and the dog wouldn't loosen its grip. I ran two houses past to my home, grabbed my little red wagon and somehow managed to free the very angry bird from the dog who was pretty intent on keeping his catch.  The Night Hawk, a bird of prey, enjoyed hamburger and other raw meats for the next month or so, dispensed via very long tongs by my apprehensive mother.  Once it had recovered from the trauma and injury to its wing, we carefully set it out in an open field to determine if his damaged wing had recovered to enable him to fly...and fly he did!  This early experience ignited something in me that sparked the desire to help animals both wild and domestic.

I began volunteering for a wildlife rescue group while still in college and spent a tremendous amount of time working with Florida wildlife in a variety of capacities including; as a Judge-appointed Cruelty Investigator, running the nursery, working with head trauma and hind-end injures, handling special events and marketing, fostering, and providing a home to permanently-impaired wildlife.  I also volunteered as a spokesperson for a local pet rescue organization and have fostered many dogs and cats over the years. As a pet and animal advocate, I have also been a voice for the voiceless  at various governmental hearings where I am able to positively impact the lives of many innocent animals.

Today I continue my volunteer work as an advocate and share my home with a variety of rescue dogs and cats, many of whom came from high-kill shelters and most of which have special needs. My pets are my product testers, models and BFF's.  You'll often see Karma, the "Speaker of the House" on air with me at HSN as well as Amelia, Luna and one of my cats. They have helped drive sales for many successful presentations and are available to help demonstrate your product as well.

career

I began my career as a model, then became an entrepreneur, event planner, and a marketing expert.  While attending college on a full academic scholarship from American Business Women's Association, I became the youngest Merle Norman Studio owner in their franchise system.   This is where I honed my retail skills and cosmetics expertise.

Upon the sale of my studio, I entered the corporate world and after a few short years, was named Vice President - Marketing for one of the country's top shopping center developers.  Most women love to shop and I am no different, so I was fortunate to be able to build a career around SHOPPING.

While I enjoyed my associates and my position as VP of Marketing tremendously, I craved an outlet where I could better utilize my creativity along with all of my passions--for animals, fashions + beauty, marketing and events and of course--more shopping.  I found that outlet in on-air sales representing myriad products on HSN, and I love it!

SHOPPING PHILOSOPHY

The question I always ask myself before spending:

"Will it save me time,

WILL IT SAVE ME MONEY,

or does it look really good on me?!"
